Baptism Sunday July 2019

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17-18a

On July 28 we celebrated with five people who walked into the waters of baptism, confessing their love, faith, and dependence on Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. We gathered at Birds Hill Park (including a bus full coming from downtown).

The weather was just right! Not too hot and not too cold – with the wind providing some amplification for our voices. Tyson led us in some singing and Dave read the words of Paul from 2 Corinthians 5:14-21.

Then the 5 people shared their faith journey. While they were all different, the themes of “relying on God” and “knowing that without Him, life just is not the same” came out in each testimony.

We then heading down to the beach and baptized Lauren, Curtis, Jason,  Brittany, and Destiny on their confession of faith.

It was a beautiful day to celebrate what God has been and is doing in the lives of these individuals. It’s also a beautiful witness to the church as a diverse body of people who come from many different places in life but are unified by the Spirit of God moving and working among them.

We praise God for the work that he is and continues to do through our community, One88!
